Church Leader Training
‘A Conversation about Scripture & Sexuality’
Thursday 14th November
9.15am - 3.30pm
Müllers 45-47 Loft House, College Road, Bristol, BS7 9FG
The topic of same-sex relationships is too often a cause of division in the Church today: trenches are dug; broadside attacks are launched; barricades are defended. Such a situation will only weaken the Church, weaken her Witness and weaken her Worship. There is an urgent need for conversations rooted in charitable respect, warm compassion and genuine curiosity to help the body of Christ find a way forward in unity, albeit a unity which recognises that differences of understanding might be held carefully without fracture or harm.
It is a recognition of this urgency and a hope for a way forward that has led to this event. Müllers wishes to provide a time and place to listen to different views—really listen—and to see beyond the lazy caricature to the Scriptural, Theological and Intellectual integrity that lies behind them.
-
The day will start with a time of gathered worship and prayer, before centring around an exploration of the traditional and affirming theological arguments regarding same-sex relationships. The speakers will each present the reasons for their own views, attending to its foundation in Scripture, Tradition, Reason and Experience. After lunch there will be a conversation between the speakers about their views and then a curated Q&A session during which the speakers will respond to questions gathered during the day. There will then be a short closing session suggesting a way ahead, and a Closing time of reflection and prayer.
-
This event is designed for those in a position of leadership within the church ministry team responsible for pastoral and/or teaching ministry.
-
The event will be led by Müllers Theological Training Team.
-
Refreshments will be provided throughout the day, but lunch will not be provided.

Top-up Training
We know church leaders and church staff team are busy, but we also know that it is important to keep Scripture and Theological Thinking central in our ministry of preaching and teaching. As part of our vision to Strengthen the Church by fuelling leaders, Müllers will be running three free “top up” sessions for church leaders and church staff.
These one-hour online sessions (1pm - 2pm) will include a time of input followed by a chance to discuss and ask questions together.
The input will be led by Clotilde Barberon and Dr Philip Thomas, both of Müllers’ Theological Training team. We encourage any of your church staff team who can make it to attend.
Dates coming soon…
