45-47 Loft House, College Road,
Bristol, BS7 9FG

College Road is located off Ashley Down Road, near Bristol City College and the Cricket Ground. The road entrance is also signposted as City of Bristol College, Gate 2, Student Parking.

  • Parking is limited at Loft House. We have six marked bays on College Road. There is also a large car park at the end of College Road which is completely free.

  • There are a couple of bike racks at the front of Loft House located in the courtyard off College Road.

  • Our nearest train station is Ashley Down which is a 5 minute walk from our museum. If you are coming as a large group one of our team can meet you at the station and walk with you to the museum.

  • Bristol operates a bus service that offers flat-rate tickets for £2.50 a trip, or a Day-rider which (as of August 2019) was £5 for unlimited travel on all FirstBus buses. We recommend that visitors purchase a Day-rider ticket.

There are various options for catching the bus to Müllers. One route stops very close and is only a few minutes’ walk from our office. Many other routes go up the Gloucester Road, from which it is a slightly longer walk to us.

    From Temple Meads:

Catch the FirstBus number 73 bus from stop T6 at Temple Meads (as you emerge from the station concourse, this is down to your right) to the Ashley Down Road stop (S8; this is opposite the Royal Oak Pub).

    From the centre of Bristol:

Go through the “Bearpit” underpass system to the exit marked Stokes Croft and Kingswood. Go through that and up the steps to the right, then walk away from the big roundabout to bus-stop N1.

From there you need to catch the FirstBus number 70 bus, and the stop you need is Sefton Park Road (which is next to a Co-op and the entrance to City of Bristol College).

Once you alight from the bus, continue in the direction the bus was going, passing Yogafurie on your left. Continue past the pedestrian-controlled lights and turn left into College Road (entrance two to Gloucester Cricket Club). Mullers is about 75 yards up the road on the left hand side.

    Other routes: 70, 72, 75

Our glass front door is located on College Road, on the left hand side, three-quarters of the way up the Loft House building just past the courtyard and main front door.

Keep your eye out for our purple hanging sign!

Parking

We have a few marked bays opposite our Museum entrance reserved for Museum visitors. If you park in these bays please get a permit from one of our Museum team when you enter! If these bays are full there is also a large free car park at the end of College Road.

We don’t have a café in the museum but there are lots of nearby local coffee shops including Guild of Dough which is a 5 minute walk from us. There are also lots of great cafés and food spots along Gloucester Road which is about a 10 minute walk from the Museum.

Is it suitable for those with additional needs?

Our small museum is often quiet but if you need extra quiet space do give us a ring in advance and we can make sure there are no big group bookings during your visit.

Is the Museum child friendly?

Our museum has something for all ages! We are a small museum but have a big story to share. For children we have an activity book, games to play, books to read, craft activities and a big bell to ring! Our museum is fully accessible and has a range of multi-media and interactive exhibits.

Is there play equipment for children?

We don’t have any play equipment inside of our museum but there is a park just around the corner from the museum behind Orphan House Number 3 with lots of play equipment like slides, swings etc. Extend your trip and play in the park where the orphans once played!

Yes, we have a baby change! We are also a breastfeeding friendly space.

The museum is across one floor meaning it is fully accessible to all. There are also plenty of seats around the museum where you can sit and soak in the story.
