NEWBURY

It was 76 years ago today that, with my brother and sister I was accepted into the Ashley Down Orphanage. I well remember that day, there was deep snow in London when we left our house and taken by an ‘uncle’ on the train to Bristol. It was exciting to begin with but sad at the end of that day when the three of us were parted, my sister into No 5 my brother to No 4 infants and me into No 4 seniors. However, it was a day to remember as it was the beginning of a new life. I bless that day and continually thank my Lord God for His great goodness to me over the years.

E-MAIL

My, wasn’t it good to look through this website. Oh the joy it gives me to know that so many people of many ages still look to the work of George Müller. Thank you very much for the years that I spent in the Homes and to the staff that looked after me. Aren’t I glad I had a great Christian up-bringing.

USA

Last July 19th, I heard a radio program talking about Mr Müller and his relationship with the Lord and his commitment to depending entirely upon God in prayer. A few days later, my son discovered a book about him on one of my book-shelves and the Lord has used it to change my life. Mr Müller was a ‘real Christian’ and has become my mentor. I have been spreading his books around to influence others to have this kind of ‘real relationship with our Lord’ as walked out by this wonderful servant of the Lord, Mr Müller.

BRISTOL

Please accept this donation to be used for ‘The Müller homes for Children’ in memory of ……..who died recently at the age of 89. She lived in Bristol when she was young, myself and other members of the family can remember her telling us about the children and the Home at Ashley Down and we felt she would very much like money given in memory of her to help continue this wonderful work for children.

WEBSITE GUESTBOOK

Through Mr Müller’s testimony, my walk of faith has been challenged to a more meticulous faith and prayer based decision making. This allows the Lord to make most of the decisions even in the simplest of things especially regarding his work. Very often, to my own fault, I took for granted His will and direction learned through the scriptures, but now I explicitly ask Him through prayer, in order that His work may not be futile in my hands. Mr Müller’s testimony has encouraged me to pay even greater attention to the leading of the Holy Spirit and obedience – all in a scriptural fashion. I am grateful to the Lord forMrMüller’s testimony of His greatness.

BEDFORDSHIRE

It is uplifting to know that the good work for Jesus Christ is still advancing. My mother, dear soul, wished me to see the work still kept going on. Please excusemy writing, my hands are very shaky now, but our Lord has been with my dear wife and myself for sixty-one years. My sincere thanks to you all.

FAMILY HISTORY

What a pleasant welcome home from holiday to find your packetwaiting! Thankyou so much for all the material. I am particularly thrilled to find the copies of the hand-written letters passing to and fro prior to the admissions. They do show a lot of background worthy of study. It is most gratifying that nearly a hundred years on it is possible to see and understand a little more of the bearing that Müllers had on my mother’s life and even my own childhood. Even to the memory of my mother’s long plaited hair, which she retained for many years. Thank you again.

BRISTOL

Thank you very much for making us welcome again. The children were talking about the visit on the way home. You do not know what seeds you may have sown.

IPSWICH

I am late in sending (this gift) but have been in hospital for a time. Everything seems to be changing so fast I cannot keep up with it; at eighty seven years and house bound I don’t have to worry too much I suppose. I am very thankful I can still live in my own home, so many cannot. It is good to know that you take care of the old also.

CHIPPING NORTON

It is very encouraging to learn of theways in which the work founded by George Müller many years ago is meeting the needs of the present day.

BELFAST

Thank you for the ‘New look Annual Report’ it may be smaller in size but the contents are still a delight to read. It is uplifting to know that in these dreadful times which we live in that right throughout the world there are men and women whom having gone through ‘Müller Homes as children were brought to a personal faith in Christ and are now in full-time service for the Lord. They are always (with the work in Bristol) remembered in prayer. May the Lord’s presence be with you all.

WIMBORNE

Please accept the enclosed for the ‘work’. My beloved motherwas an orphan there at the turn of the century. I visited the museum several years ago – I shed many grateful tears over it all. Also my mother’s brotherwas there and he went to Canada – married – went to war and was shot down – he is buried in India. Sadly his wife died 6 months after him broken hearted. I am a Christian and what joy itwas to read of George Müller after I had  ‘given my heart’ to Jesus. God bless you in all your work.

BRISTOL

Many thanks for the Report, it made very good reading and praise the Lord for all that he is doing through you all - although, I must confess, I was rather disappointed to see so little about soul saving evangelism. I do pray that during the Christmas season with all its special opportunities, you will be truly encouraged and be able to rejoice with reports of souls being born again. May God bless you all as you labour behind the scenes.

USA

Thank you for the Report, I am so glad the work is still thriving. God’s blessing on you as anotheryear approaches. My grandmother was in the orphanage starting in 1874. Believe she was there ‘till 189?. I feel very grateful to you for that.

AUSTRALIA

Please accept this donation on behalf of ………. He has so many happy memories (of his time in theHomes).

BRISTOL

I did not give anything to the BBC Children in Need appeal but feel more at ease in sending you a special gift instead. I am sure you are in contact  with many children in need and pray that this will fill a special need this Christmas. God bless you all with much joy this Christmas.

A POEM FROM AN ANONYMOUS DONOR

Do not fret – Do not frown.
We know our world is upside down.
Hurricanes rage and tempests come.
Soon it will be time for Home.
So take comfort in the fact
God will know when to act.
He is sitting on the throne.
He is LORD and He alone.

SAWTRY

We first read about George Müller when we were living and working in Canada. His story was an inspiration and great encouragement to us. We now expect great things from God and great things He has done for us. George Müller certainly opened our eyes to the greatness of God.

NEWPORT

Once again, I am able to support the wonderful work you do amongst the children. I get money given to me formy birthday, and atmy age, I never know what to spend it on, what betterway than to give it to the children. I have been on my own these last 19 years so I will be spending Christmas on my own, but I love Jesus and I know He will be with me, every blessing to you all.

E-MAIL

I am absolutely delighted with the extra information I have on these children now, one of whom is my great grandfather. I managed to obtain a second-hand copy of ‘George Müller, Delighted in God’ by RogerSteer and am fascinated by this amazing man and his faith. I am now able to put my own orphan ancestors into the context of this fantastic work with the children and feel their lives must have been enhanced by it. Again many thanks.

E-MAIL

Just to let you know, I received the information before Christmas and wanted to say thank you, it provided me with a wealth of information and was very interesting. It also helped put me back on track as I was starting to follow the wrong family line!

I also found the booklet you enclosed extremely interesting not only because of the summary of Mr Müller’s life but it also gavemean insight into what life was like in the orphanage at the time my great uncles would have been in them.

SUNDERLAND

I have recently read Dr Pierson’s biography of George Müller and have been greatly exercised to sell an item of personal value and to send the sum received to you for use in the Lord’s work.

IRBY

Thankyou for sending me a copy ofyour Report. It was good to hear that your change over to caring for children through churches is going well and for reminding us how faithful God continues to be as you faithfully, by His grace, apply the old core values of faith, care and evangelism in all the avenues of work God has entrusted to you. May the Lord continue to bless all at George Müllers.
