New Victory Child Care, Uganda, Africa

New Victory Child Care is a Christian child welfare project based in Njeru Town, Uganda and located near the source of the River Nile. Although the project covers Jinja, Kamuli and Iganga, it is intended that it becomes country-wide. This child sponsorship project is devoted to serving the needs of orphans as a result of HIV / Aids and also other vulnerable children. As a result of devastation through HIV / Aids and war, Ernest Basalirwa started this work in 1999, Uganda being one of the poorest countries in the world.

The project operates through integrating orphans and those in need of child care into the extended families of widowed mothers, aunts and uncles, grandparents and in some cases close family friends – this avoids dismantling the social network that already exists in society. The work includes funding educational opportunities, health and medical care, family support, spiritual counselling and moral guidance. It includes also Aids awareness and vocational training in schools. Many children have so far been helped through this project but there are many more who need help. Please pray for Ernest and his helpers in this sponsorship scheme.
